Support

When contacting support, include your app version, iOS version and what happened. Never send your password or sign-in codes. Settings → Share diagnostics prepares a local troubleshooting file that can contain precise coordinates from geofence logs, battery level and low-power state, plus recording and sync diagnostics. Review the file before sharing it with a recipient you choose.

Which location permission should I choose?

“While Using the App” allows location access while you use Waylit; it does not enable the automatic all-day background history. “Always” allows Waylit to record journeys when the app is in the background, with background recording enabled. You control this in Waylit Settings → Tracking and iOS Settings → Apps → Waylit → Location (the path may vary by iOS version).

Enable Precise Location for detailed routes. Approximate location can make journeys inaccurate or incomplete; Record now needs precise access and may ask for it. You can change or withdraw location permission at any time. iOS, force-quitting, device conditions and system restrictions can interrupt recording, so history is not guaranteed to be complete.

Why does Waylit ask for Motion?

Motion & Fitness access helps detect when you move or stay still so Waylit can adapt GPS recording and save battery. Motion activity spans also help interpret your journeys. You can decline it or change it in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness. Recording behaviour and battery use can differ without it.

How much battery will it use?

Usage varies with movement, signal, device and settings. Waylit adapts GPS use and rests it when you are still. Check iOS Settings → Battery for your own device. Stop a Record now session when finished, and switch off background recording in Settings → Tracking when you do not want it. Battery-saving restrictions can also leave gaps in history.

How do sync and backup work?

Recordings first enter a local queue on your iPhone. When signed in and connected, Waylit uploads pending points and capture events; the backend then builds your history and maps. Settings → Sync shows sync information. Background opportunities are controlled by iOS; open the app with a connection if history is behind.

Signing into the same account on a new phone restores server-synced history. Points that have not uploaded remain only on the original device and may be lost if you uninstall the app or lose the phone. Signing out keeps pending recordings on that phone for the same account. Optional notifications remind you about syncing; they are scheduled locally.

How can I export my data?

Request a copy of your Waylit data from your account email address. We may verify ownership before providing it. Full-history export is not yet an in-app feature; Settings → Share diagnostics exports a troubleshooting file, not your complete travel history; it can include precise geofence coordinates, battery level and low-power state. Review it before sharing. Data access and portability requests are free unless a lawful exception applies.

How do I delete my account?

Open Waylit → Settings → Delete account, then confirm Delete. This is permanent. The app needs an internet connection and a valid sign-in session to delete the server account. Pending uploads are stopped for removal. If you try offline or the server request fails, the account remains and recordings stay on this iPhone; reconnect and retry. The app does not schedule an offline server deletion.

Successful server deletion removes your authentication account, profile, device registrations, uploaded locations and capture events, and derived history including routes, visits, trips and coverage. The app then clears that account’s local capture queues, native recordings and map coverage. If local cleanup fails after server deletion, reopen the app so cleanup can retry; contact us if it persists.

Uninstalling alone does not delete your server account. Other devices, files you shared, provider backups, logs and diagnostics are separate; see retention details. A waitlist signup is also separate and can be removed by email. Deletion does not currently revoke Sign in with Apple authorisation. You can stop using Apple sign-in for Waylit separately in your Apple Account settings; this alone does not delete your Waylit account.

What if I no longer have the app?

Request deletion with the subject “Delete my Waylit account”, preferably from the address associated with it. For Apple Hide My Email, include the relay address shown in your Apple account if available. We will verify ownership and arrange deletion; we will never ask for your password. You can also request waitlist removal or deletion of support information in the same message.
